how to backup all my files. conf in a directory in linux?

I tried cp-RPV. *. Conf backup, but it didn't work

Are you trying to copy from the local directory? If so, you do not need "first." For all files. Conf: for i in `find /-name *. conf 'do cp-pv $ i backup and, indeed This will copy * all * files ending in. conf entire directory tree in the directory backup. Of course, if you have more than one file with the same name that you end up with only the last copy. I can add a flag to the copy to overwrite request. It would probably be better to use find /-name *. conf xargs | … but you have to work out the replacement string to xargs.
